Tellonym is where you can engage with relevant people without facing social anxiety. Our platform was built by focusing on three simple principles (Tellonym's Principles), with always having full control over what is being posted' as the core.
Before something gets publicly visible on your profile, it has to be confirmed by yourself. That's how you can stop inappropriate behaviour before it even has the opportunity to spread.
This page will elaborate on how to prevent yourself from getting inappropriate messages, as well as what you can do within Tellonym if you have received inappropriate messages, so you always keep control. You can also check out which measures you can take outside of Tellonym if you have explored the Control features.
Language Filters (Control Options)
Every message that is sent on Tellonym has to pass our learning language filters that search for inappropriate content and remove it. They are based on natural language processing technology and are learning with every decision they take. You are also able to set the strength of our filters for your own profile from 'Very Low' to 'Very high'.
Custom Wordfilters
Tellonym users can add words to their custom word filter to exclude specific topics completely. If a message includes that exact word, it gets instantly removed without further notice. This way you can control which messages you receive. General harsh language is already filtered, so we recommend to add words that are connected to inappropriate messages you receive often. The function can be found in the settings menu.
Only Receive Tells From Registered Users
You can remove the ability of non-registered users to write you messages. This can be found in the settings menu, however it will reduce the number of messages you are going to receive.
Reporting System
Tellonym has a reporting system in place which allows you to report Tells, answers and profiles. To report, you have to click on the three dots on a profile, Tell or answer and tap ‘report’. All reports are individually checked by our moderators, which take appropriate actions.
We recommend to read the Community Guidelines and regularly report messages that you consider inappropriate. This allows us to individually check those messages, take actions and to learn more about the experience you would like to have on Tellonym. Our language filters are adjusting to your reporting behaviour and based on that, block inappropriate messages automatically.
If you are unhappy about a decision on one of your report cases, please contact us via email at support@tellonym.me.
Extensive Blocking Mechanism
You are able to block every person that you don't want to interact with. On every profile, you have the option to block that person, by pressing on the three dots, which removes their ability to see your posts, to send you messages and to interact with you otherwise. If you do so, the other person could find out that you have blocked him or her.
Additionally, you are also able to block the sender of every individual Tell you receive, by pressing on the three dots. Blocking senders works for non-registered users as well as for registered ones. It removes the senders ability to write you additional Tells. If you block the anonymous sender of a Tell, the sender won't get informed.
